Brandy
For the love of magic + belief + peace + reflection + color + laughter + authenticity.
For the adoration of shalom.

My name means “sweet, after-dinner drink”. 30 years into it, I have to admit, it suits me.
I can be neat or on the rocks, depending on the day. I’m intense, like alcohol. And frankly, hard to swallow, sometimes. I am a digital pastor, mom, and miscreant. I believe in the restoration of shalom. I believe we can save the world. And that we should. I believe in Jesus but I believe God is bigger than Christianity. I believe in resurrection, but I think it’s much more than an escape plan. I believe in confession. And I know some people won’t get it. We can love them to pieces just the same. This blog is about seeking the places where heaven is crashing into earth. It’s about charging into the hells of the world with divine strobe lights.
Shalom insists we matter. You matter. All of this matters. There are pieces of God in everyone. In some inexplicable way, we are all connected.
I love shalom so much that I made it my job.
I have a BA in sociology. I spent a spring break studying the California justice system and visiting San Quentin state prison. I journeyed to India to help survivors of human trafficking. If you’d like to read more about who I am and where I’ve been, check out my story. I’m turning it into a memoir. If you’d like to read about some of the tiny things that make up me, check this out.
